What a night!

What a night!

On September 22, 2011, Chevrolet Design Night brought together European YCC 2011 winners and then some to celebrate this year’s competition in true YCC style. The festivities were held in London at one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, Battersea Power Station, at the height of London Design Festival. Needless to say, the focus was on creativity, inspiration and a little merrymaking, too -- because, let's face it, there wouldn't be such a party without the effort of talented YCC participants across Europe.

For a little taste of the evening, check out the video wrap-up here.

Special guests

The invitation-only group of YCC 2011 winners and international guests were treated to talks by well-known creative leaders, including Neville Brody, Wayne Hemingway and Lucy Walker. Later in the evening, the talented singer-songwriter Bluey Robinson and veteran of the club scene Thomas Koch aka DJ T. kicked up the festivities a notch or two.

And let’s not forget some of the others who were on-hand to honor Europe’s rising talent: YCC founders, organizers and the renowned YCC 2011 European jury.

Other icons

Apart from mingling with other guests, party-goers could check out iconic Chevrolet models from key decades of the brand’s 100-year history. The exhibition included the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, the soon-to-be-released Chevrolet Volt and the European premiere of the 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept. In addition, Belgian cult design label Quinze & Milan displayed examples of their work and a short film depicting the making of their avant-garde re-interpretation of the Chevrolet Orlando (which appeared at the Superbrands London Tent at the London Design Festival).

Guests could also savor the visually-stimulating atmosphere and hands-on installations with the help of Jamie Oliver Fabulous Feasts.

Looking ahead

While the YCC 2011 contest may now be over, we bet that for YCC 2011 winners it's just the beginning. As for YCC 2012, we're looking forward to another great year...but the rest is up to you.
